Unlimited by Design
July 26 2002
to March 22 2003
Whether you
are eight or eighty, you want the world to work for you. The ideal
of products and environments designed with everyone in mind is the
goal of an approach called universal design. Universal design seeks
to embrace the routine activities of the greatest number of people,
accommodating a wide spectrum of age groups and physical difficulties.
Unlimited by Design is based on the original exhibition at the Smithsonian
Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York who licensed the
travelling rights to theRehabilitation Engineering Research Center
on Universal design at Buffalo. It is a celebration of the spirit
and imagination of contemporary designers who have embraced the
challenge and opportunity of universal design.
